Supreme President John Grossomanides

Biography

 

Current Responsibility
John is the Blue Cross BlueShield of Vermont and The Vermont Health Plan Director of Pharmacy and Senior Clinical Pharmacist for Advanced Pharmacy Concepts.  He has been with the organization since January 2001. John supervises all Clinical and Pharmaceutical Management activities within this department including producing drug monographs, formulary management, clinical auditing, pharmaco-economic patient modeling, academic detailing, and educational development.

 

Experience
John has managed the department of pharmacy including, Formulary management, Academic Detailing, Provider Education, Rebate management and handle all items related to the Pharmacy Benefits Management company relationship.

His previous clinical experience was as clinical pharmacy for ten years at the Westerly Hospital in Westerly, Rhode Island. He was in charge of Drug Utilization Evaluations, Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, and therapeutic interventions.

John is the Past President of the Rhode Island Pharmacists Association and a Past President of the Rhode Island Society of Hospital Pharmacists.  He was the 2000 Winner of the Rhode Island Pharmacist of the Year Award, a 1990 recipient of the Rhode Island Hospital Pharmacist of the Year award, and a recipient of the 1997 McKesson Leadership Award.

He has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Clinical Pharmacy for the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy.

 

Education
John received his bachelor degree from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy in 1984 and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy in December 2000.
