The Order of AHEPA proudly congratulates our 2020 AHEPA William Chirgotis Collegiate Scholar-Athlete Award honoree George Karlaftis, now playing defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, on his Super Bowl win!
Now a Super Bowl Champion, the AHEPA Athletics Committee honored George when he was still at Purdue University. They have worked for decades to promote athletic programs to generations of AHEPA members and guests who attend AHEPA Family golf, basketball, bowling, volleyball, tennis, and other athletic tournaments. Each year, AHEPA Athletics holds a banquet at our Supreme Convention to honor the best of the best in the athletic world, whether they be seasoned athletes, Olympians, broadcasters, or high school seniors winning an athletic scholarship so they can continue to pursue their dreams.
George Karlaftis, along with other AHEPA Athletic award honorees such as Greg Louganis, Spero Dedes, Steve Lappas and more were part of a video presentation saluting AHEPA on our centennial anniversary during our Supreme Convention last summer in Orlando, Florida. Each honoree speaks candidly on how much AHEPA and AHEPA Athletics has impacted them personally.
With over 100 years of service in our communities; AHEPA as a whole looks forward to continuing to grow over the next hundred years. This past year alone brought the introduction of our first ever AHEPA International Golf Tournament at the Costa Navarino resort near Kalamata, Greece, that had over 72 participants from all over the United States and Europe!
The AHEPA Athletics department is just one of the many integral parts of the AHEPA family. To learn more about AHEPA or to join, please visit our website ahepa.org.Once again, a heartfelt congratulations to George Karlaftis on becoming a Super Bowl Champion!
