Last Week, Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas lead the AHEPA contingent to the White House for their annual celebration of Greek Independence Day. His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros opened the ceremony with remarks about the importance of the March 25th celebration. President Joe Biden thanked the Greek American community for its ever-present support of America.

Guests were treated to a musical performance by Greek American Entertainer Rita Wilson and had the chance to socialize with many prominent Greek Americans from across the country. In addition to Wilson and her husband, actor Tom Hanks, there were close to three hundred Greek Americans who attended the celebration.

Representing the AHEPA family with Supreme President Kokotas were DOP Grand President Georgette Boulegeris, SOP Supreme President Ryan Marinos, and MOA Grand President Maria Ana Pantelous.

Additionally, Supreme Vice President Louis Atsaves, Supreme Secretary Savas Tsivikos, Supreme Treasurer Chris Kaitson joined the Supreme President in representing the AHEPA Supreme Lodge. Chairman of the Board and PSP Nicholas A. Karacostas, as well as PSP George G. Horiates and PSP Carl Hollister, at the invitation of the Archdiocesan Council, represented our Order as well.

AHEPA first visited the White House with during president Calvin Coolidge‘s administration in 1924. Thank you to the Biden administration for hosting such a lovely event.  It was an honor to maintain a presence and be represented during this celebration at the White House again this year.
