On Friday, January 27th, AHEPA was honored by The Board of Directors of Greek American Educational Public Information System Inc. & Hellenic Public Radio, Cosmos FM 91.5, with the prestigious Phidippides Award. The award, presented at Terrace on the Park in Flushing, New York, was to honor AHEPA for one hundred years of passionate advocacy of Hellenism.
In the weeks leading up to the event, Cosmos FM 91.5 interviewed members of the AHEPA Family and helped spread the message of AHEPA to their audience. The event was chaired by PSP George G. Horiates, and Supreme President Kokotas accepted the award on behalf of AHEPA. AHEPA Chairman of the Board, Nicholas A. Karacostas, PSP & Daughters of Penelope Grand President Georgette Boulegeris were also in attendance.
The event also featured a Young Professionals Party that served as both a networking and social event for the young adults in attendance. Maids of Athena Grand President Maria Ana Pantelous & Grand Governor Markella Roros, along with Sons of Pericles Supreme Governor George Horiates and a group of SOP & MOA from Districts 5 & 6 represented the AHEPA Family at this event.
