Today, Congresswoman Maloney issued the attached letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken the administration to speak out “against the unilateral and illegal actions of the Republic of Turkey concerning the ‘reopening’ of Varosha on Cyprus. I also ask that you and President Biden take actions to express the United States’ firm opposition to these plans, and to emphasize the need to resolve this matter in accordance with the existing international agreements, not in a unilateral fashion that will only inflame tensions on Cyprus”.
AHEPA Supreme President Horiates extended his appreciation to Congresswoman Maloney on taking this action. “Congresswoman Maloney has always been at the forefront of our issues. Her vision in helping establish the Hellenic Caucus and her support of our issues demonstrate that American priorities are also uniquely Hellenic priorities. Particularly in this matter, we see her commitment that Cyprus remain a foreign policy priority for the United States. Finally, this is a repeated call to our chapters to help grow the Hellenic Caucus”.
