WASHINGTON, DC – Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas has issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the global membership of the Order of AHEPA, and our affiliated AHEPA family of organizations, we are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus.

“On our delegations to Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos always received us warmly and engaged in thought-provoking dialogue, and we appreciated his support of our mission in Cyprus. Further, he bravely battled cancer, and his outspoken criticisms of Turkey and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine were commendable.

“Our deepest sympathies and condolences are with the Church of Cyprus, the Orthodox Faithful of Cyprus, and all those whose lives Archbishop Chrysostomos touched. May his memory be eternal.”
