We are saddened to share that Brother John Samos, a devoted AHEPAN for 63 years, passed away on November 13 at the age of 102. Brother John was a member of Woodrow Wilson Chapter 241 in Newport News, VA. His exceptional service to AHEPA included roles as Chapter President, District Governor, and Supreme Governor, and he was honored as National AHEPAN of the Year.

Additionally, he served Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Newport News as Parish Council President, where he was instrumental in securing and building the present church. In May 2023, Chapter 241 celebrated his extraordinary service to country, church, and community with tributes from national AHEPA leadership, military officials, and NASA. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and POW of Stalag Luft 3, John earned the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster before completing engineering degrees at Oklahoma State University and contributing 45 years of distinguished work at NASA.

Above all, Brother John was known for his boundless generosity and unwavering kindness. He was always ready to lend a hand to family, friends, and anyone in need–never once complaining, no matter the day. He found joy in boating, fishing, and family vacations. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. May his memory be eternal.
