WASHINGTON (October 25, 2016) — Supreme President Andrew C. Zachariades issued the following statement on today’s White House announcement that President Barack Obama will visit Greece, November 15, 2016:
“AHEPA welcomes today’s announcement that President Obama will visit Greece on November 15 and the statement’s reaffirmation of support and appreciation for Greece and its people. The visit sends a strong message as Greece endures two unprecedented crises, economic and migratory. We hope the visit will serve as a springboard for additional assistance to Greece–be it humanitarian aid, technical expertise, or both–and serve as an opportunity to reaffirm international law. Despite the crises, Greece remains a steadfast and dependable NATO ally, for example, contributing more than the minimum standard for defense expenditures that is required of a NATO member.”
