AHEPA Announces 2017 Hellenic Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
The AHEPA Hellenic Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee selected its Hall of Fame Class of 2017, announced Supreme President Andrew C. Zachariades, Supreme Athletic Director Lou Atsaves, and Gregory J. Stamos, chairman, Hall of Fame Selection Committee. The Class of 2017 includes: May Kotsopoulos, college and professional basketball player; Dan Mavraides, college and professional basketball player; Nick Tsiotos, college basketball player and journalist; Aleke Tsoubanos, college tennis player and coach; and Dr. James Vailas, college football player and sports medicine. read more

AHEPA Welcomes Congressman Carbajal to Hellenic Caucus
AHEPA welcomes news that U.S. Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA) has joined the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, announced Supreme President Andrew C. Zachariades. Congressman Carbajal represents the 24th Congressional District of California, which includes all of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. Salud served eight years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, including active duty service during the 1991 Gulf War. Membership in the Hellenic Caucus now stands at 124.
“We are deeply grateful to Congressman Carbajal for joining the Caucus,” Zachariades said. “We appreciate his service to our nation and look forward to working with him, and his staff, on issues of importance to the American Hellenic community.”
Rep. Carbajal serves on the Armed Services and Budget Committees.
Tell Congress to Back the Return of the Parthenon Marbles
AHEPA commends the introduction of H.Con.Res.51, a bipartisan, concurrent resolution that expresses the sense of Congress that the Parthenon Marbles should be returned to Greece. U.S. Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), and Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) introduced the resolution, May 2.
