The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), a leading association for the nation’s millions of American citizens of Greek heritage and Philhellenes, released its 2024 Congressional Info-Card for the 118th Congress on the public policy priorities of the American Hellenic community, announced Supreme President Savas C. Tsivicos.
“This November 5, all seats for the House of Representatives are up for election and approximately one-third of Senate seats are too,” Tsivicos said. “We are presented with an opportunity to provide a service to the American Hellenic community and educate it about the legislative actions or initiatives taken by members of Congress on our policy priorities. If anything, the Info-Card may be the best indicator of how well legislators are aware of, or engaged in our issues.”
Tsivicos encourages the community to reach out to members of Congress to thank them if they are supportive of the issues or to inquire why they are disengaged.
“Because the success of government depends on an engaged and educated citizenry, we are proud to provide the community with this helpful informational or educational tool,” Tsivicos said. “We encourage the community to utilize it and share it with family, friends, and colleagues.”
He added, “The most sacred right we have as citizens is the right to vote. Voting is the language with which democracy is spoken. In the spirit of civic responsibility, we encourage community members to check their voter registration and to educate themselves about ways to cast a ballot and to encourage their fellow citizens to do the same.”
