On the morning of Friday, July 4th, the Guadalupe River rose an astonishing 26 feet in just 45 minutes, devastating the communities of Kerrville, Texas, and the surrounding area.
This sudden flood has already claimed the lives of 135 people, including 36 children, with many others still missing. Local law enforcement confirms that no additional survivors have been found since the initial day of the disaster. The search and recovery efforts continue around the clock.
“This tragedy, as horrific as it is, could have been so much worse,” said Kerrville Officer Jonathan Lamb, acknowledging the tireless work of emergency personnel on the front lines.
In support of these first responders, AHEPA initially donated $10,000 and, in partnership with St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in San Antonio, continues to collect additional donations.
