District 5 Hosts Successful Hellenic History Tournament

On January 24, 2026, Camden Chapter 69 hosted its 10th annual Regional Hellenic History Tournament. The annual event was hosted in the Danielle Kousoulis Greek Center of Saint Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, NJ. District Governor Lou Stefanou and his lodge, along with the local chapter host officers led by their President Tasos Malapetsas were assisted by the Cherry Hill Daughters of Penelope, Nike Chapter 230. 

Students and parents came from all over as thirteen teams came for a chance to win scholarship monies and for the right to participate in the finals to be held at the AHEPA Supreme Convention this upcoming summer in Philadelphia, PA.The tournament organizer, PDG Steve Marmarou, welcomed the student participants after a complimentary breakfast. Thereafter, a total of seven different rooms in the complex were used in servicing the 13 teams in a round robin style. The finals of The Tenafly team, The Bergens were pitted opposite Holmdel’s The Souvlaki Slayers. Alas, the Tenafly team prevailed. The Bergens and the Souvlaki Slayers will be competing in the world championship this summer at the Supreme Convention.
