The AHEPA Foundation, Inc was honored to host a panel discussion entitled “The Strategic Role of Greece: A pillar of stability, security and peace in Europe and beyond on Thursday, February 20. The discussion was held at the Grand Bretagne Hotel in Athens, Greece and attended by over 100 members of the AHEPA Family.
The first panel, entitled Greece as an Energy Center for Geopolitical Stability, was moderated by Konstantinos Eleftheriadis, who heads the Energy, Resources & Industrials Sector as a partner at Deloitte. Panelists included DESFA CEO Maria Rita Galli, Hellenic Petroleum CEO Andreas Shiameshis, and Professor for Energy Policy and Geopolitics at the University of Nicosia, Coordinator for International Energy Policy, Office of the Minister of Environment & Energy, Dr. Theodoros Tsakiris.


The program’s second panel, Sustainability in today’s Marketplace, was moderated by Journalist Constantinos Deriziotis. Panelists included President of the Center for Sustainability and Excellence & Vice President of CRI Nikos Avlonas, Partner at Bahas-Gramatidis & Partners/Fellow CRI Dimitris Emvalomenos, and CEO of EYDAP Harry Sachinis.
Rounding out the event was the third panel, moderated by AHEPA Board Chairman Nicholas A. Karacostas, PSP, entitled Geopolitical challenges of the South Eastern Mediterranean. This panel featured Supreme President Savas C. Tsivicos, Cypriot Ambassador to Greece His Excellency Ambassador Stavros Avgoustides, and Israeli Ambassador to Greece, His Excellency Ambassador Noam Katz. The speaking program ended with remarks by Maria D.G. Olsen, Charge d’Affaires ad interim, US Embassy Athens.
