Last Tuesday, AHEPA District 10 hosted the thirteenth and final “Milk for Flint” milk giveaway. This event was created in 2016 during the “Flint Water Crisis,” that made national headlines. Residents of Flint, Michigan were exposed to lead poisoning through their drinking water. In response, District 10 fundraised and began milk giveaways to Flint residents who had been affected, since milk helps to accelerate the natural process of dissipating lead from the body.
In total, the Automotive District raised over $41,000 for this cause and gave over 20,000 gallons to those in need. With the help of their partners, Flint Catholic Charities and Flint Kroger #404, they were able to have a venue for these giveaways and provide and transport the milk at an affordable price. The “Milk for Flint” program is only one of many AHEPA programs that help perpetuate the mission of AHEPA. We congratulate the Brothers of District 10 for remaining dedicated to this cause and making a genuine difference in their community.
