Supreme President Carl Hollister visited Houston to survey the flood damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, September 2, and presented AHEPA’s initial $15,000 donation toward local relief efforts. He visited with four families whose homes suffered severe flood damage and lent assistance and moral support. Many more families have suffered the same, if not worse, fate. After surveying the damage, Hollister set a goal of raising $100,000 by month’s end.

“Many families have lost their homes, their vehicles, and irreplaceable personal items,” Hollister said. “The $15,000 donation is a down payment. More aid will come.”

“The loss is devastating and, in some cases, unimaginable,” Past Supreme President Anthony Kouzounis, a Houston native who accompanied Hollister on the visit, said. “We are touched by the outpouring of love and generosity from AHEPA and DOP chapters across the country.”

Supreme President Hollister also thanked members of the community for helping with the massive amount of clean-up and recovery efforts in Harvey’s wake. Along with Kouzounis, Brothers Yannis Remediakis and Doug Harris also accompanied Hollister.
