Over the weekend, AHEPA’s auxiliary organizations, the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena, along with the Daughters of Penelope, hosted a Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Chapter and District leaders came from all over North America and as far as Greece to learn about programming for the year and how to effectively support the initiatives of the organization throughout the year.

The weekend began with a meet and greet at a local Greek restaurant for the SOP and MOA, and with a sit down dinner for the DOP before attendees explored and experienced some of D.C.’s robust nightlife. All three organizations held meetings the next day, and following lunch, the SOP & MOA delegation went on a team building visit to the International Spy Museum to witness their new interactive exhibits and timeless pieces of history.

During the DOP lunch, Grand President Antoinette Marousis Zachariades proudly presented the Daughters of Penelope Spirit Award to Georgetown Cupcake Co-Founders Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne. This award is given to women who exemplify dignity, perseverance, creativity, and inspire and empower women. The award was presented at the conference’s luncheon. The DOP thanks the Past Grand Presidents who helped sponsor this special celebratory lunch.

All three orders came together that evening for an Italian buffet dinner at Il Campione in DC that featured Greek music and dancing. An after hours karaoke party was hosted by the Daughters of Penelope back at the hotel.

On Sunday, SOP Supreme President Basili Ronstadt and MOA Grand President Stephanie Owens hosted a farewell brunch for their members on the rooftop of AHEPA Headquarters in Dupont Circle. Recapping the weekend, both Presidents attested, “Each and every one of you are a key part in the success of this organization, and we all thank you for that. We hope you all had a wonderful time.”
