The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) stands in solidarity with the people of Greece as devastating wildfires continue to ravage areas surrounding Athens and other regions. As one of the most severe wildfire seasons in recent history, thousands of acres of land have been consumed by the flames, resulting in the destruction of homes, forests, and critical infrastructure. The fires have particularly impacted the outskirts of Athens, including the regions of Fyli, Menidi, and Parnitha, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate.

In response, AHEPA’s chapters in Greece have swiftly coordinated relief efforts, working in close collaboration with local authorities and volunteer organizations to provide essential support to those affected. Our members on the ground are dedicating their resources and time to assist in evacuation efforts, deliver supplies, and offer shelter to displaced families. The sorrow we all feel is only surpassed by our dedication to the philanthropic mission of AHEPA: to help those in times of greatest need. We are fully behind our chapters in Greece as they work tirelessly to aid their communities during this critical time.

As Greece endures these challenging times, AHEPA remains steadfast in its mission to support Hellenes around the world. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide all possible assistance to ensure the safety and recovery of those impacted by these tragic events.

Supreme President Savas C. Tsivicos commends District 25 Governor Christos Karapiperis for running point on the AHEPA response and encourages members who wish to help with the District’s efforts to contact DG Karapiperis directly via email at ck.ahepa@gmail.com. Members who wish to donate to District 25’s efforts can also do so via ahepa.org/donate. Ahepa headquarters is not currently accepting check donations for wildfire relief.
