AHEPA Family Marches in NYC Greek Independence Day Parade

Over the weekend, members of the AHEPA Family marched in the 86th Greek Independence Day Parade on Fifth Avenue in New York, NY, marking 204 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution on March 25, 1821. The annual parade was organized once again by the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York and chaired by AHEPA member and supporter Philip Christopher.

The parade’s grand marshals this year were General Andrew Poppas, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras, and the Olympiakos Soccer Team. Honorary marshals were actor, director and screenwriter Christoforos Papakaliatis and Olympic champion Pyrros Dimas. The parade also featured an appearance by the Evzones, the Presidential Guard of the Hellenic Republic.

AHEPA Supreme President Savas C. Tsivicos, Supreme Vice President Chris Kaitson, Supreme Secretary Zenon Christodoulou, Supreme Treasurer Themistocles Frangos, Supreme Governor Dean Moskos, Chairman of the Board Nicholas A. Karacostas, PSP, DOP Grand President Margaret Dritsas, Grand Governor Lainie Damaskos Christou, SOP Supreme President Alec Economakis, SOP Supreme Governors George T. Horiates & George Antonellis and many members of the AHEPA District 6 Family represented AHEPA on the AHEPA Float and by marching alongside it. Thank you to everybody who came out!
