The first week of the AHEPA Journey to Greece Program was an eventful and enriching experience for the participants. After a welcome BBQ and detailed orientation, the students were greeted by prominent figures such as John Chrysoulakis, General Secretary for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, and Konstantinos Kouzyrakis, Consultant General Secretary for Greeks Abroad. They were also welcomed by Basilio Petkidis, AHEPA Supreme Governor Region 10, and Vasilis Botopoulos, Rector of the Athens campus. Each student received a book from the General Secretary titled “The Godly Gaze, The Transcendence of Classicism in the Paleologan Wall Paintings of the Holy Monastery of Pantokrator on Mount Athos,” published in 2023. The students appreciated hearing about the importance of programs that create bridges with the Greek diaspora. The afternoon was spent on walking tours of the area, familiarizing themselves with local amenities like the post office, banks, bakeries, and grocery stores.
