Supreme President Chris Kaitson continued his productive visit to Greece with a series of high-level meetings in Athens, beginning with an update from Vasilis Botopoulos, Provost of Webster University and Director of the long-standing AHEPA Journey to Greece program. Since 1969, this initiative has brought tens of thousands of Greek American students to Greece for accredited academic and cultural study, with 20–25 students participating annually.

The Supreme President and the AHEPA delegation were also honored with an invitation to the U.S. Embassy for an introduction to the new U.S. Ambassador, Kimberly Guilfoyle, before proceeding to meetings with Greece’s Minister of Defense and Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, where discussions included Ahepans’ growing interest in Greek citizenship and updates on major projects. Also in attendance was Secretary General for Greeks Abroad Maira Myrogiannis.

A highlight of the excursion was the Supreme President’s engagement with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during which he reported on key initiatives nearing completion from last year’s administration under PSP Tsivicos, including the reconstruction of a medical facility in Chios and the imminent opening of the new surgical unit at the AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki.
Supreme President Kaitson also outlined cultural and educational programs planned for 2026 and extended a formal invitation for the Prime Minister to attend AHEPA’s 2026 Supreme Convention in Philadelphia—an invitation that drew clear interest. He was joined by Canadian President Anastasios Moussas, Supreme Governor Stathis Kefalidis, District Governor Nicos Dimitropoulos, Executive Director Basil Mossaidis, and Daughters Executive Director Elena Saviolakis. The meeting concluded on a warm personal note as the Supreme President proudly shared his newly issued Greek passport.

The Supreme President then traveled to Kalamáta, where Chapter HJ7 hosted him for a visit to the local hospital, including a tour of its advanced diagnostic facilities and the presentation of essential items such as blankets and pillows for those in need. He met with Hospital President Nicos Pefanis to discuss potential support for non-surgical medical equipment and later conferred with the Peloponnese Region’s Vice Governor and Ahepan Stathis Anastasopoulos. The chapter’s hospitality culminated in a dinner at the Poseidon Nautical Club, where Kaitson thanked the officers and brothers for their dedication. These engagements concluded the Supreme President’s itinerary in Greece as he departed for the United States on Saturday, marking a successful and meaningful extension of AHEPA’s mission abroad.
