Last night the AHEPA delegates saw a terrific national televised baseball game between the Phillies and the Yankees.

The AHEPA brothers and sisters thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with 45,000 of their friends.

The City of Brotherly Love is also recognized as the City of Delegates. It is here the delegates to the Continental Congress voted to declare Independence from Great Britain on July 2, 1776. Congress formally adopted and approved the text of the declaration on July 4, 1776. It is here that delegates began the official physical signing of the engrossed parchment document on display at the National Archives in Philadelphia on August 2, 1776.

Similarly, AHEPA Family Delegates have been pouring in from all around the AHEPA domain for the AHEPA Celebration of America’s 250th Year Anniversary. Monday registration opened for this landmark convention.

It also started with a unique diplomatic tour of Independence Hall. Honorary Consul of Panama to Philadelphia Georgia Athanasopulos, organized a special guided tour of Independence Hall through the Philadelphia diplomatic corps, the World Council and the United States Park Service.

Honorary Consul Athanasopulos, a dear friend of AHEPA, was awaiting the AHEPA delegation, led by its Supreme President E. Chris Kaitson , his Supreme Lodge members as well as the Board of Trustees through its chair, Nick Aroutzidis.

The leadership sat in the very seats of the Founding Fathers in these hallowed halls. They toured the imposing facility and stood outside where United States Presidents Abraham Lincoln and John Fitzgerald Kennedy stood during their Independence Day speeches to the nation.

The Supreme President then led the delegation for a tour of the Nation’s symbol of Freedom, The Liberty Bell.
